The Register of Addiction Specialists is the international registry of Registered Addiction Specialists (RAS) and RAS Interns (RASi) who provide services in the field of addictions. The "Registered Addiction Specialist" and "RAS" credentials are registered service marks - Reg. No. 051081 Class No. Int. 41 - which may only be used by professionals who meet the qualifications and are certified by Breining Institute. Since 1986, the mission of Breining Institute has been to ensure a consistent standard of education, training, examination and certification for professionals working in the field of addictions. The RAS examination is based on counselor competency standards identified by national industry experts - including the Twelve Core Functions and the TAP 21 Standards - and is administered and scored by Applied Measurement Professionals, by computer, at over 130 test centers located throughout the United States.
